The Romantic Rhine, Koblenz to Bingen: Stolzenfels Castle በ bill barber
Stolzenfels Castle is located at the confluence of the Lahn and the Rhine. It was built in the 13th century ,and became a ruin after destruction by the French in 1689. King Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia, who had been given the ruin as a present, rebuilt the castle in 1836-42. He included the ruin in the restoration. The castle retains the 19th century furnishings. The courtyard, residential chambers, knights' hall and chapel are of particular interest.
