In 1949, the castle was restituted by the Republic of Austria to Maximilian, who inherited it in 1962 his son Franz. After Franz Hohenberg's death in 1977, his widow, Elisabeth von Luxemburg, transferred the property in Artstetten to the castle, museum, forestry and agriculture of her eldest daughter Anita, who in 1982 became the archduke with her husband, the French count de La Poeze d'Harambure -Franz-Ferdinand Museum founded and renovated the castle.
